Lafayette Festival Plaza

This exciting project was designed by Nuszer Kopatz Urban Design Associates and began with the demolition of the existing street and development of the lot into a public plaza.  The plaza’s main feature is a colorful canopy, surrounded by stone monoliths and four smaller plazas designed to host a variety of public and private activities and events.  The plaza also boasts an interactive water feature, art wall and seat walls in colored concrete and flagstone.  The project also included landscaping and irrigation.

The Festival Plaza won the 2009 Governor Award of Excellence for Best Public Space Project in recognition of a public space improvement that has enhanced the urban design, physical function and economic viability of downtown and the community.
